Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.

My career in education spans over two decades, beginning in instructional roles and school leadership as an assistant principal and principal. I progressed into district-level leadership positions, including Executive Director of Services for Exceptional Children, Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services, and Area Superintendent, gaining deep experience in student support and school operations. I then transitioned to human resources leadership, serving as Chief of Human Resources for the School District of Palm Beach County. Today, I lead HR for Fulton County Schools, Georgia’s fourth-largest district, overseeing talent management, compensation, and professional and leadership development initiatives.

What is one of your guiding leadership principles?

Work hard and make no excuses. For me, it’s simple: show up, own your responsibilities, and focus on solutions—not blame. Leadership is about setting the example, tackling challenges head-on, and inspiring your team to do the same.

What is the greatest challenge CHROs face today, and how are you addressing it?

Talent is the greatest challenge facing my role today. I am currently leading Level Up FCS, a districtwide professional learning initiative in partnership with the Professional Learning & Leadership Development team. Level Up is a comprehensive, multi-level framework that strengthens employee skills, supports career growth, and enhances performance across the organization. In just two years, the initiative has driven measurable improvements in recruitment and retention.

What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CHRO?

Remaining curious and adaptable is critical. The most successful leaders seek feedback, learn the organization’s context quickly, and are willing to refine their approach as conditions evolve.

How do you measure success as a leader?

I measure success by how well the organization functions without my direct involvement—when leaders are confident, decisions are aligned, and progress continues even in my absence.

What is the value of being a member of Gartner C-level Communities?

I gain access to peer-validated strategies and real-world insights from leaders across industries, including outside public education, allowing me to apply innovative, proven approaches within my organization.
