As organizations accelerate into an era dominated by AI, CHROs face a pivotal moment to redefine HR’s value and strategic relevance. According to Gartner insight, only 36% of CHROs are prepared to, or are already, incorporating AI into HR’s operating model. The imperative is clear—HR must evolve beyond traditional practices to harness AI for both operational efficiency and strategic talent transformation, while maintaining fairness, trust and the human experience.
By 2030, AI is projected to execute half of current HR activities, making it critical for CHROs to lead this transformation or risk HR’s marginalization. By acting as guardians of trust and dignity, CHROs can ensure AI adoption enhances, rather than undermines, organizational culture and the employee experience.
Discussion Questions:
- How can CHROs best align HR’s strategy with broader enterprise AI goals?
- What are the most promising AI use cases for strategic talent management?
- What should HR leaders be vigilant about when selecting AI vendors?
- What governance structures are needed to ensure responsible and effective AI adoption in HR, while preserving fairness and human accountability?
