Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
I started my career with an HR MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, then jumped into roles at Chubb & Son and later at Bell Atlantic Mobile, which became Verizon Communications.
After 23 fun and challenging years, getting to know every nook and cranny of Verizon's HR and business worldwide, I found my way to STO Building Group. Here, I'm putting all that experience to work, shaping our HR strategy and helping our team and business grow.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
I'm convinced there's always a way through — it's about making smart choices and pulling together to turn big dreams into reality. Being a leader means rolling up your sleeves, making hard calls with courage, and always having the backs of your team. It's in this spirit of unity that we turn challenges into wins.
What is the greatest challenge CHROs face today, and how are you addressing it?
We're in the midst of an exciting technology implementation and transformation. It's exciting as it will radically improve how we work and the overall employee experience. The challenge is being thoughtful to ensure we minimize disruption and wherever possible change fatigue.
What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CHRO?
The key to success is to balance the amount of time and energy you spend managing the business priorities along with the time you spend managing the HR function. Build your internal and external network. C-suite roles can be lonely if you don't build a strong peer network outside of your firm.
How do you measure success as a leader?
Success for me is about fostering a winning culture. Building a place where our people can be at their best, do their best and feel at their best.
What is the value of being a member of the Evanta community?
The ability to unlock invaluable insights through knowledge exchange with the exceptional peer network in the community.
Evanta Governing Body members share their insights and leadership perspectives to shape the agendas and topics that address the top priorities impacting business leaders today.
