Neil Morris is CIO for Ball Aerospace. Prior to joining Ball Aerospace, Neil was with Maxar technologies from 2016 to 2023 where he led a large-scale cloud migration and adoption of DevSecOps prior to taking the role of CIO. Earlier in his career, Neil led architecture for ADT security services and spent time at IBM and The Apollo Group in various IT leadership roles.

Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
I have 25 years of increasing responsibility leading technical projects, programs and teams, and I have had several opportunities to work with mergers and acquisitions and divestitures at large scale. Working for larger organizations on the leading edge of technology innovation has led me to my current role.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
Never stop learning. Trust your team. Set them up for success.
With disruption being a key theme of recent years, where do you see the CIO role going in the next 1-2 years?
I see the role of CIO evolving to leading more through influence and with C-level peers. IT used to be a unique skill set that is now distributed highly across the business. The role of the CIO will be to embrace, support, train, educate and enable business units, IT organizations and technical experts to do more, closer to the work.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out as a CIO?
Relationships matter. Build strong relationships with your C-level peers and always focus on value.

- I'm a sensei in American kenpo, having studied martial arts for over 35 years.
- I have completed an IronMan.
- I was a father at 16.
