Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
My professional journey began as a Statistician specializing in fraud analytics. I consider myself fortunate to have commenced my career with an organization that genuinely appreciated the power of data. Over time, I actively contributed to expanding their data capabilities, which ultimately led to my evolution into the role of Chief Data Officer.
External recognition followed as I spearheaded transformative initiatives. Now, in my current capacity as the Group Head of Data for a retirement specialist company, I continue to navigate the dynamic landscape of data-driven strategies.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
Always be prepared to adapt, because circumstances change.
With disruption being a key theme of the past year, where do you see your role as a CDAO going in the next 1-2 years?
The surge in AI technologies has reinvigorated our attention toward data management, security, and privacy. As we navigate this landscape, the question of how to maximise the commercial potential of data becomes a central theme on my agenda.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the role as a CDAO?
Find some influential champions within your organisation to shout about the value of data.
Tell us 3 fun facts about yourself.
- I have four children, five cats and a dog.
- I am a decent ballet dancer.
- I am frantically searching online for more details about The Lost Boys musical because I cannot wait to see it.
