Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.

I began my career in IT operations and infrastructure, focusing on delivering reliable and scalable systems. Over time, I gained experience in digital transformation, cloud migrations, and cybersecurity. My roles at HBO LATAM, MEDNAX, and TIME allowed me to lead large-scale initiatives, such as adopting AI technologies and modernizing IT landscapes, which prepared me to step into the CIO role and lead enterprise-wide technology strategies.

What is one of your guiding leadership principles?

One of my guiding principles is to lead by empowering others. I believe in fostering a culture where teams are encouraged to innovate, take ownership, and grow.

What is the greatest challenge CIOs face today, and how are you addressing it?

Balancing innovation with cybersecurity in a rapidly evolving digital landscape is one of the biggest challenges I face. To address this, I prioritize building robust cybersecurity frameworks, such as Zero Trust, while collaborating with teams to implement innovative technologies like generative AI. This dual focus ensures we stay secure without stifling innovation.

What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CIO?

The key to success is to listen, learn, and adapt. Building relationships with stakeholders across the organization, understanding their needs, and aligning IT strategies to meet those needs is crucial.

How do you measure success as a leader?

Success as a leader is measured by the impact you make—both on the organization and the people within it.
