Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
I started my career in the IT service delivery and operations domain and held several leadership roles at various organizational levels in the financial industry over the past 25 years. Throughout my career, I have always focused on customer enablement and success with technology products and services that are both efficient and fit for purpose.
By embracing and leading change at every step, I was able to learn and grow successfully through numerous technology, market, cultural as well as organizational changes. This experience helped me learn various aspects of product, project and operational delivery of technology to diverse business groups and helped me establish a strong foundation, paving the way to my current role as the Head of IT at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
Adaptability and Accountability. The technology landscape changes constantly and so do business demands. Being adaptable keeps me flexible and successful with meeting new challenges. By being accountable, I lead by example, inspire others to take responsibility for their actions, deliver commitments with quality, and stay motivated.
With disruption being a key theme of recent years, where do you see the CIO role going in the next 1-2 years?
Disruption is not a recent phenomenon in my view. What has changed over the recent years is its pace and impact. Given the rapid growth of cyber threats as well as AI solutions, I would like to partner with business leadership to accelerate digital transformation with a focus on AI adaption for productivity and data management, and strengthen the cybersecurity posture across the firm.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out as a CIO?
Think "business first, then technology.” Start with understanding how the business works in your industry and ask what technology can do to add or accelerate the value delivery for your firm.
Tell us three fun facts about yourself.
- I am a commercial aviation enthusiast, a personal finance fanatic and a data geek.
- I enjoy traveling with my family and exploring different parts of the world.
- I love coaching people who seek my advice and guidance on their career growth.
