She’s currently the Chief Data & Analytics officer at Comerica Bank, where she leads the transformation of the Enterprise Data Strategy and implementation of Data Governance Standards. Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
I was fortunate enough to be in the data space when Big Data was a new thing, allowing me to implement and use some of the up-and-coming data technologies, which then led me to bigger roles at larger banks like JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo and then ultimately a C-level role at my current bank.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
Don't be afraid to be vulnerable, especially in situations where you don't have full expertise. This allows others to feel empowered to step in and share their diverse viewpoint to support the objective.
What is the greatest challenge facing CDAOs today?
The greatest challenge is the rapidly changing environment, both external, with AI, and internal with evolving objectives to meet the demands of customers.
What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CDAO?
Don't be afraid to ask for help from others who have been in a similar situation.
How do you measure success as a leader?
Having a respected team known to excel in execution, not just strategy.
