Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
I started off working in the NHS and have since worked in various industries such as financial services, insurance and life sciences. The opportunity to work in Cleveland Clinic London arose during the COVID pandemic, and it felt right to return back and help our nurses and doctors to save patient lives, by delivering market-leading data and analytics capabilities.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
It is okay to never stop learning. Additionally, you can always inspire by being a sounding board as opposed to a doer all the time.
Where do you see your role as a CDAO going in the next 1-2 years?
I would say data literacy and data management are the key areas in which I see the evolution of my role. Over the next 1-2 years, I will focus on partnering with Cleveland Clinic London on our enterprise data, analytics and digital strategy as we look to innovate our capabilities whilst keeping patient safety at the core of our thinking.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the role as a CDAO?
Meet with all of your executives and build relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Work out the ‘gaps’ in your team – specifically around business priorities vs. knowledge gaps.
Tell us 3 fun facts about yourself.
- I love tennis.
- I enjoy travelling.
- I have a cat called Zoya.
What is the value of participating in a professional community through Evanta?
The value of joining Evanta’s UK CDAO community is twofold. First, it allows me to share my learning and experiences with my peers within the broader Evanta UK CDAO community. Additionally, as leaders, we should never stop learning. I look forward to finding any nuggets of information and advice that can help me in my own role.
