Hemant Kulkarni is a seasoned data and analytics leader with over 27 years of experience driving strategic initiatives across diverse industries, including manufacturing, finance, healthcare, and entertainment. He excels in scaling agile practices, democratizing data insights, and developing monetization strategies. Currently, as leader of the Data & Analytics practice at Atos, he guides clients in implementing cutting-edge data platforms for Generative AI applications. Beyond his expertise in data, Hemant is a passionate chess enthusiast and an avid traveler, always seeking new challenges and experiences both on and off the board.

Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
I began my career as a RAD (Rapid Application Development) tool developer, specializing in databases and analytics. This foundation led to diverse assignments across global locations, including Singapore, Hong Kong, India, the UK, Europe, and North America. Driven by a deep passion for technology and a continuous pursuit of learning, I progressed through various roles, ultimately culminating in his current leadership position.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
Building a culture of excellence, I strive to create a culture where excellence is the standard. I encourage high performance and celebrate achievements.
What is the greatest challenge facing CDAOs today, and how are you addressing it?
Talent acquisition and retention remains a critical challenge in our rapidly evolving tech landscape. We address this by investing in promising graduates, ensuring transparent hiring, recognizing employee contributions, and prioritizing work-life balance.
What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CDAO?
Helping customers to generate value from their data, collaboration, and leveraging partners’ ecosystems effectively should be the focus of a new data leader.
How do you measure success as a leader?
For me, leadership success is defined by the tangible value we deliver to our customers, the sustainable growth I drive for the organization, and the enduring commitment of my team.
